Background
Suzanna began her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1977. Early on, her calling was to be caring for others.
While volunteering as a puppy raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind (GEB), Suzanna gained experience in canine care and psychology. In 1984 she was recruited to head the GEB Puppy Raising Program in Westchester, NY.
Through a fellow raiser and trainer, Toni Kay of The Well Mannered Dog, she was introduced to Brian Kilcommons and Sarah Wilson of The Family Dog & MySmartPuppy.com. Brian and Sarah took Suzanna under their wing as she worked for them in their own kennel in Orange County, NY. (see LINKS page)
In 1995, Suzanna and her husband Joey, took over that facility as Both Ends of the Leash.
After six years, Suzanna & Joey moved the operation back to the rolling hills of Westchester, setting up shop in lovely Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Along with the canine boarding operation, Suzanna continued to provide canine training in Manhattan, Greenwich and Westchester on a regular basis.
Since the unexpected loss of Joey in 2006, Suzanna has discontinued the boarding operation and is focused on providing the best training possible.
Both Ends of the Leash continues as Suzanna Valentine's canine training service. Her gentle methods are appreciated by owners and dogs alike. Her ability to read a new dog's temperament is a great asset in dealing with both friendly and worried dogs.
